Having developed an interest in ceramics I trained at West Dean College (1980-81) in the Conservation and Restoration of Antique Ceramics and Porcelains, and began my own business in 1982.

Since that time I have worked for Public & Private bodies, & the Antiques trade.

Based in Wales my work has had a particular emphasis on, though not exclusively, Welsh Ceramics, having clients not only from the UK but also from America, Canada, New Zealand and Japan.

During the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, I was involved in Conservation programmes of ceramics for the East/West Wing Galleries and the Joseph Gallery at the National Museum and Galleries of Wales, Cardiff.

I have also undertaken surveys and conservation work for other Public bodies including:

Swansea Museum

Cardiff Castle

Cyfartha Castle

CADW (Welsh Historic Monuments)

Aberystwyth University

The National Trust

Royal Society of British Antiquarians

I have been an Accredited Member of ICON since 2000, and have been involved in the BSc & MSc courses in Archaeological Conservation at Cardiff University since 1986, giving lectures and being involved in discussions/forums; I also give occasional talks to the “Conservation Matters in Wales” meetings & other Public interest meetings such as “The Friends of Nantgarw” and continues to do so in order to raise the public profile, and expand knowledge with regard to Conservation and it’s importance.

Much of my work has involved the preparation of objects for inclusion in reference books /publications.

Among my most recent large projects, has been the surveying , (photographing documenting and condition reporting) of ceramics at the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea (some 2500 items).

As a result of this project, I have been able to develop a programme of conservation: and grant funding has been obtained for treatment of the objects most at risk.

I have also carried out work on a William Morris tiled fireplace at Kelmscott Manor, Gloucestershire – (Morris’ Summer retreat), which was damaged in the floods of 2007.
